Our Litter Team enforces the anti-litter law and issues fines. We also give advice to businesses about waste disposal and to the public about littering and dumping.
Fixed Penalty Litter fines
If you are caught littering in the street we can issue a fixed penalty fine of £50.
Payment of the fine
You must pay the fine within 14 days of receiving it. If you appeal the fine you do not pay it until a decision has been made on your appeal.
However, if you are not appealing the decision and do not pay the fine we may prosecute.
How to make a payment
You can make cash / debt card payment at our office during office hours at the address below.
Post a cheque to the address below.
Payment plan over an agreed period of time to spread the cost of the fine
Appeals
If you want to appeal the fixed penalty fine you need to:
- Write to us within two weeks of the fine being issued
- Quote the fixed penalty notice reference number
- Send it to us at the address below
We will review your case if you feel a mistake has been made.
