Refuse Collection
Newry and Mourne District
Council provides a weekly refuse collection service to
approximately 35,000 properties.
Some facts you should know about the
service:
- The service provided is a wheeled
bin collection service. Additional Black Bags put out with the
bin will not be collected.
- Bins should only contain normal
household wastes - not stones or building debris.
- Bins should be placed out for collection
no later than 8.00 am on the morning of the collection.
- The Council also offers an assisted
lifts service for people who have difficulty putting out their
bins due to medical reasons. Information is available from customer
services.
- Recyclable materials to be placed
to designated recycling bins
Interruption
of the Service
Occasionally interruptions do occur
to the service, such as:
- your normal collection day falling
on a Public Holiday. Where this is the case, please
refer to the table below to see the appropriate alternative
collection date.
- operational issues such as adverse
weather conditions or breakdowns. Where this is the case, the
Council will attempt to catch up the collection on the following
day.
If you require further information in
relation to any difficulty with your collection service please contact
028 3031 3233 during office hours.
Please note: Members of the
public may dispose of their domestic waste free of charge at any
of the Council's Civic Amenity Sites and Recycling Centres. Wastes
must however be seperated for disposal at the relevant recycling
bins
