Activities

Newry and Mourne District Council invites you to an activity break in some of the most beautiful and unspoiled countryside in Ulster.

Located in the south eastern corner of Northern Ireland, the Newry and Mourne area extends from the southern slopes of the Mourne Mountains to the legendary Ring of Gullion and offers great diversity of scenery, culture and leisure activities.

Newry and Mourne includes some of the most dramatic and picturesque scenery in Ireland. Rising dramatically from the sea, the Mourne Mountains dominate the South Down landscape and contrast with the lowland plains around Kilkeel and the mudflats and the salt marsh areas of Carlingford Lough - important for birds and other wildlife.

The Ring of Gullion in South Armagh is the most spectacular example of a ring-dyke intrusion in the British Isles. Slieve Gullion is a huge whale-shaped mountain circled by a ring of hills. The surrounding area is undulating and encompasses both bog land and cultivated farmland.
