Newry and Mourne District Council
1st February 2010
Dust off those walking boots which have been lying in the back of the cupboard all winter and sign up for the Mayor’s Charity Flagstaff Walk/Run/Cycle which will take place on Sunday 25th April..
Mayor John Feehan is inviting everyone to participate in what will be a fun day out for all the family. Walkers will be given the chance to experience a walk along the picturesque Flagstaff Road with breathtaking views over Carlingford Lough.
You and your friends can choose to participate in either a Walk, Run or Cycle starting in the vicinity of the Quays Shopping Complex. Entry fee is £10 per person, Children £5 and Families £20 which will go to the Mayor’s Charity Cycle Fund. You will also be given the opportunity of raising your own sponsorship for the Mayor’s Charity Fund which is being administered through the Newry Lions Club.
Mayor Feehan extends this invitation to all local schools who may have a fundraising project in mind. This will be an ideal opportunity to get children walking and at the same time raise money for their school project.

Mayor Feehan said: “this is an great opportunity for anyone, including children, wanting to fundraise for charity. The walk is open to anyone who is keen to get their walking boots on and hike for charity”.
All participants will be presented with a certificate on completion of the walk.
Entry forms and sponsor cards will be available at all major Council facilities in early February or accessed at
